A very interesting email!
I suppose that many of you remember me talking (in a very old blog post) about Horse Apples, and the "Horse Apple Trees" that they came from.
Not only was that stupid sounding, it was also incorrect! (Though neither are unusual for me).
So, today (or yesterday more likely) I got an email. Mike Swyers wrote an email titled "Horse Apples". At first, I took it for spam, but I like spam sometimes, so I deleted the rest but kept this one.
When I opened it, this is what I read:
John,
I came across your Blog.... The horse apple is really off of a Bodark Tree
(not a horse apple tree). Old Timers planted them on their homestead
because the wood was the best for making wood tool handles & such. Plus
they did not have a hardware store they could just run down to.
It is also good for making Bows, & is becoming more popular in Long Bows.

Just thought you would like to know being a new Texan & all....
Wait until some of our bugs get to you.. Fireants...Scorpions, Centepeds...
keep it cool...
Well Mike, I will keep it cool, and you too.
Derrillynn made an interesting blog post that is worthy of reading.
Well, maybe it's not, but I thought it was pretty good. It reveals this so called "Secret" which was apparently only unknown by me! :D
So, in other news, Derek finally showed the Zims my "Talents". I'm a very talented harmonica player, especially when Jack is hyped on sugar and in his "Laughing" mood. I'll do the most disgraceful things to make him laugh.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed it.
Oh yeah, I have free long distance all day today, so lemme know if you want a call, cause I can sure call ya. Just make sure to email me your phone number after you request the call, so I know WHOM to call.
I was thinking to myself about Frank Peretti. The guy is pretty good. I was thinking about all the magnificent things he's done, and then I remembered his story tape about Moses.
Tait, do YOU remember that tape? The one with the people singing the moo cow worship song? I played it at a church service, so you should remember.
Oh, for Esther, how the heck old were you when you went on Tower of Terror. I'm guessing 11 or 12. May be wrong though. I'm retarded like that.
For Ashley, I want to let you know that you are still higher in Jerad's ranks as a babysitter.
I think it has something to do with my tough pace. Seriously, my feet are worn out, and I had it easy compared to Jerad. BTW, am I spelling his name right? I've always spelled it that way, never knowing if it was accurate.
One thing about having me for a babysitter too, is there is know friggen way he's gonna push me around. I have 5 brothers, 2 older, 3 younger. There is no freaking way. I also have a sister, so you can believe me I know the difference between real and false tears.
I am curious to see what Jerad's honest opinion of me is. You'll have to tell me.
I've noted that Jerad is a more talented actor than I am.
To tell you a little about my pace, the first day we got up at eight, left at nine. We got to magic kingdom, and hit it hard. I switched between walking, and half running, and the kids were all thankful for a long line, which meant rest. We hit almost every ride in Magic Kingdom, and then went over to MGM. We came back to the hotel at nine. Jerad could hardly walk, and even my feet hurt.
I am not slow, and I am quite thankful that I didn't have any girls along (i.e., Reagan) for it would have taken me FOREVER to get anywhere or do anything.
Eh, anyway, David and I are loading up.
See ya folks.
John.
