Salvation Mountain Updates and a VIDEO!
We're in the middle of editing and having a great time! David is parked here and we're lovin' the great stuff that's coming along.
Documentary editing has been VERY difficult. I'm learning so much recently about filmmaking, documentaries, theology, CG, etc, it's been a very interesting process.
Jeff Heustis is doing some brilliant reproduction of houses from the 1930's, terrain, Cold War Era Tanks, 1957 Chevy Trucks, and more, and it's coming along beautifully. Of course, we're carefully documenting everything we're doing, so that the buyers of the DVD will get to see what all we're doing every day.
This last Monday, I received a package from Leonard Knight himself. I was a little surprised, and when I opened it, I found about 6 copies of a DVD that we had produced for him. It's just a short tour of the mountain (also to be a special feature on the Documentary DVD), that we put on DVD along with some fancy photography of the mountain ( I posted it earlier ) , and that's about it.
However, it costs me about 80 cents for a coversheet, 40 cents for a case, 30 cents for a high quality disc, about 30 cents for a high quality label, and then however much time it takes me to burn. To do the inside fold out would cost another 80 cents. Then, the DVD will only play on about half of the DVD players in the U.S., and is very susceptible to scratching.
Well, there's this little company (big company?) called DiskFactory (DiskFactory.com) that I decided to try out. I did it, and to say the least, I was impressed. $ 1.69 per copy, and it includes a plastic wrap. They did everything I did, and burned it to the Red Code Standard, making it playable in 99 percent of the players in the United States, and they don't scratch as easily.
Here's a quick video that should be a bit fun to watch, with me... 'advertising' the DVD. To save to your hard drive, Right Click this link, then select 'Save Target As' from the drop down menu. Save to your desired location, and you're done! It's 20 megs, so it shouldn't take too long. A trivial factoid, is that I have been compared to Jeff Goldblum, Julia Roberts Brother, and Anthony Perkins in this video. I'm pretty sure I'm still just John Moore though, so don't get excited. ;-)
Well, that's the latest.
Have a good time everyone, and God Bless!
