Hum dum de dum.
Whistling whirling, spinning tide.
Tears of pain, tears of sorrow, a flood of pain.
Throw me the rope, I need a float, I'm drowning.
I'm drenched, I'm soaked, I'm crying in the rain.
It's been a good day, and yet so sad.
A life lost, recovered, a battle won.
The clouds are parting, the day shines through,
Bringing warmth, from a falling son.
There's a field covered in summer flowers,
frozen by a winter blast I can't explain,
Over my water a sinking ship towers,
And the world will know tragedy again.
But peace still lives, in clouds of war,
And soldiers carry love on their chest.
Nobody knows just what's in store,
But God tells us, that it's all for the best. - John 'Me' Moore.
Heh. Well, for being ad-libbed, it can't be TOO bad. Or wait, yes, I suppose it could...
I've had numerous concerned souls ask if perhaps I didn't spend too much on books. Well, I've been eating through them, and so far, it's been worth every single penny I've spent. Period.
Screenwriting 434, Great Sound for Digital Video, Working with Children in the independent movie industry (hard to find, but a somewhat good read), Cinematography: Theory and Practice, Monster, and many other wonderful titles dealing with video.
That accounts for nearly 250 dollars right there.
Another 200 went to Dual XLR mini-mixer for the bottom of my trusty old VX2000 handy-cam, and DV tapes.
200 dollars went to Final Draft 7.1, 'How to Make Your Movie' - A digital Film School, and Syd Field's Screenwriting Workshop.
It may seem like a lot of money, but the stuff used to make siblings, cost us far more.
The camera was over 2000 dollars, the software was well over 1000 dollars, and my computer, (rigged specifically for working with video) cost me well over 1000 too.
Many, many, MANY computer games I wanted to buy, never were. In fact, the computer game you see in What a Blast was actually fake. We couldn't even afford a game like that once we were done!
(begins to cry, like in the poem).
I should really begin posting pictures of my house, but it's a little rainy and dark outside right now.
Summer Conference is coming up though, and I'm not going. (gotta be 16 and all that. Too many people know I'm not 16, and would thus want to bring their kids who are fifteen, and you know how it goes from there).
Perhaps during my time babysitting (hehehe. You'd think Mom and Dad would have gotten a clue how well I do that from Siblings, but I guess not. :-), I can take a few pictures of the house and blog 'em.
It's worth a try, no?
So, we filmed roughly 9 pages of A Penny for your Thoughts (APFYT, Siblings 2's working title), and they didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, for TWO reasons.
1.) I didn't storyboard, or scene draft. In my heart, I knew I should do both, but I didn't.
2.) We were REALLY rushed. 9 pages equals roughly 9 minutes. For Siblings 1, we took two weeks to film, and we had 18 pages of material. :-
So, I don't have time to storyboard and still get it out by the September 1'st deadline. Instead, I'm going to scene draft my camera angles and shots using a few different applications, a pencil, and paper.
It works.
That's a whole bunch of technical jargon to say this: I have been, and will continue to be, busier than a one legged man in a fanny kickin' contest. Or, busier than a one armed paper hanger. Whichever one you prefer.
Now, I assure you, 250 dollars on books ain't much. Ain't much at all. Especially considering the fact that two of these titles are bigger than the bible, and nearly as expensive.
Speaking of which, a guy in the business who just moved to Alaska, bought a Thompson chain reference, and it was a misprint!
They left out two whole books of the bible, and several chapters of 2 kings. I told him he should keep it and buy another one, but instead, he traded it in.
I would have gladly bought it from him, but he didn't let me know he was going to trade it in. Books like that are rare, and awesome.
I thought it ROCKED, personally.
:-
Oh well.
So, Peter Jackson is making King Kong, and Derek Moreland and I are arguing about whether or not it will be an awesome movie or not. By the way, Hello to the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future.
I (sadly) took forever trying to decode your initials. I now know, that you are Theodore Alexander Ekholdt, the third.
Right? ;-)
Anyway, glad to hear from you again! Back to subject. Derek Moreland will be here in Texas near the end of July, which will be awesome.
Perhaps we should do a music video....
And with that to discuss, I leave you fine citizens of bumblyburg, and scream "I AM THAT HERO!!"

P.S. Dear Kuhn family. I have read of your unfortunate plight, and will lend my momentary services to ease your suffering. *cough*ahem*cough*. Please press the 'ALT' key, and then, while still holding down the ALT key, press the ENTER key. It will make the Pirates video fill you screen.
Follow the same instructions to make it small again. :-)
Have a wonderful day!
