San Antonio. Should be good fun!
Tomorrow we get in a southbound suburban, loaded with luggage and seven passengers, and make our way to San Antonio.
It's a beautiful city, well worth seeing, and seeing again.
Our schedule is as follows.
Wednesday, October 26'th.
We arrive in San Antonio, and unpack. If possible, we'll take a peek at the Alamo.
Thursday, October 27'th.
We go to the convention center and register. I'm not sure what everybody else will be doing, but David Heustis and I will probably be hanging out and speaking with the other directors. That'll be very cool, and make us feel awesome. ;-)
Then we go to the opening ceremonies of the festival, listen to the various speakers for a couple minutes, see a few trailers, then we go to the river-walk and watch Charlie Zahm, a Scottish balladeer, perform a few songs for the crowd. It's cold on the River-walk. We need to bring warm clothes...
Friday, October 28'th.
We'll go to hear Geoff Botkin, then to Kevin Swanson, who is actually the Mueller's pastor! Cool, eh?
Then we watch films for several hours. After each film, they have the creators stand up and hold a VERY brief question and answer section. We'll of course be at the showing of Bubble Trouble, or else it'd be difficult to do the Q/A....
After a while, we have a lunch break, then we come back and watch a film or two.
Then we once again come back to the River-walk, and watch Charlie Zahm sing, and George Sarris recite scripture and perform biblical plays.
Saturday, October 29'th.
The big day. After a couple hours of training, several hours of films (another showing of Bubble Trouble), and many other spectacular events, we have the closing ceremonies.
There, they'll announce the category winners, and of course the jubilee award.
The following awards will be given:
Best Narrative Film ( A story telling film. Bubble Trouble, etc...)
Best Creation Film
Best Political Film
Best Documentary
Best Youth Film (Directed by someone age seventeen or younger. I was fifteen when we made Bubble Trouble.)
Best Film Trailer (if you made a trailer for your film, you are eligible for this prize)
Audience Choice Award. (This is the one I REALLY want...)
Best of Fesitval: 10,000 Dollar Jubilee Award. (I promise I wouldn't complain if I got this one...)
:-)
After that, we head home in time to defend the ranch from Trick or Treators....
:-P
Ok, and now for a few responses to the comments.
Daniel Gardner: I'm sorry this took me so long to respond to.
I'm working on getting the film online, but we're having some problems with FTP and my friends DSL connection. I don't have a real high speed connection, so I can't upload the file.
We're working on it though! We'll see you at the festival too, right? That'll be awesome indeed!
Kuhns: Thanks for the response! Yeah, I know how techy you are, Mrs. Kuhn.... You technical wizard you!!! I hear you even check your email once in a while! :-P
:D I'm teasing! Really, I am... A little bit... :-P
David and Valerie: Good to hear from you! I shipped your DVD yesterday. Sorry for the long wait, but we had a problem with a lot of the DVD's, and I wanted to fix it first. My first batch was fine, my second batch wasn't. ANYWAY, you are gettin' yours.
Derrillynn/Llama/Delana/ButchWilcox: Happy Birthday! I shipped your DVD too. :-)
And, now I must go make more DVD's, in preparation for the festival.
I'll try to post pictures from the hotel, but ya never know how well that'll go.
We'll also try to get lots of video, for perhaps an online special feature for the film.
