Tactical Pistol of 2003: Alaska

Tactical Pistol 2003, Big Lake, Alaska.

In 2000, 2001, and 2003, we ran some shooting classes at our gun range in Alaska. Up top was the gravel pit, for rolling, running, laying down, kneeling, etc, while down below was the long range swamp. Kneeling in swamp is not only wet, but it's also cold, and not very good for your gun.

We had a lot of fun during those classes. Here's a few pictures. Click to enlarge.

I love the way Todd Rogers is standing. I really should learn to imitate that...

Todd should give lessons on how to stand! He could make a fortune...

David Moore was smaller in 2003. But he wasn't any less of a marksman.

Oh rifleman, who is your conqueror? If I felt more poetic I'd write something to go with that.

I loved those Camo pants. I remember I used to wear those all over the place.

Even more than the pants though, I love the gun. Sig Sauer P220. I still wear that one all over the place. I ditched the camo but kept the gun. In other words, I don't want the bad guy thinking a tree killed him.

One thing I'll never forget about those shooting classes we took every summer, was the strong comradarie developed with the other students. While we were already friends at the start of the class, we were brothers by the end of those four days. It's a wonderful thing.
