Academy Insomnia

At the San Antonio Independent Christian Filmmakers Academy, Rob Tull, Scottie Moser, David Heustis, and myself, ended up discussing who knows what until around 5:30 in the morning. I mean, some of our conversation was very deep and meaningful, but the rest of it, I forgot already. What do I remember? Several hours of fellowship, and overall a grand time!

I was astounded at Rob's rubber leg. He managed to put it into all kinds of positions that I would personally be afraid to try.

Scottie maintained a somewhat professional stance throughout the night, until we got him singing. Yup, Scottie gave a solo performance (with some minor accompaniment by Rob and Me) of 'A Mighty Fortress is our God', which went along well with our discussion of Martin Luther and his struggles with the book of James.

This all took place in David and I's motel room. At this point, I was relaxing on my bed while David was sleeping on his. Just out of sight of the camera is an alarm clock reading '4:00 AM'. We had to go on another hour and a half though, before we felt we had covered all bases. Strangely enough, we all sorta felt like we knew each other.

And this is the good Samuel Fleming taking notes at the Academy; Samuel Fleming is Robert Flemings younger brother, and Mr. Robert Fleming's son. Samuel also gave a few solo vocal performances, the most impressive of which was 'Long Black Train'. The whole Fleming family was a true blessing to David and I at the film festival, and I'm grateful for everything they did, including a birthday party, transportation through a really bad part of town late at night (on multiple occasions), lunch at the Casa Rio, and Mrs. Fleming even gave me some advice on not burning my pants with the iron. The Flemings were exactly what David and I needed during the Academy, and I was truly delighted to meet them all. I look forward to meeting up with them again later at future events.

So to Robert Tull, Scottie Moser, and the entire Fleming Family, God Bless you all!
